Primary Roles and Responsibilities

• Transaction Management: Accurately process sales for diverse items, from small seed packets to large trees and construction materials, taking delivery orders using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Customer Interaction: Greet visitors, answer questions about plant care (e.g., annuals, perennials, and nursery stock), and guide them to specific sections like the tree yard or construction supplies.
• Quote Support: helping clients figure out what materials they need for their projects based on their measurements.
• Product Support: Upsell and cross-sell related products, such as fertilizers or garden tools, to ensure customers have everything needed for their projects.
• Operational Maintenance: Keep the checkout area clean and organized, restock nearby shelves, and ensure all merchandise is correctly priced and labeled.
• Physical Tasks: Assist with light stocking, bagging or wrapping plants, and occasionally helping customers load smaller purchases into their vehicles.

Key Skills for the Environment

• Plant and Product Knowledge: While not always required to be an expert, having basic knowledge of trees, shrubs, and gardening supplies is a major asset.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts (up to 8 hours).
• Adaptability: Willingness to work in varying conditions, including hot, humid greenhouses and outdoor tree yards, regardless of weather.
• Communication: Clear and friendly communication is essential for handling busy seasonal periods and answering multi-line phones.
