Hi, I have a friend giving away Brandon cedar trees. They are mature and I was wondering if it is ok to dig them up and transplant them at my place.
Sure, best to wait until just before freeze up so they’re dormant and there’s always a chance they may not make it through the transplant. If you have any slow release fertilizer say 10-52-10 or something similar mix that in with the soil when planting so it activates in the spring of 2026. Take a nice big root ball so you don’t disrupt the roots system too much.
