Preparation Ideas: Cut off dark green ends down to the light green and trim off root ends. Cut remainder lengthwise and separate fanning the layers. Carefully wash layers to remove garden dirt and slice to add to soups and stocks.

Days to Maturity: 110 to 120 days

Planting Depth: 1.3 cm (1/2″)

Tolerance: cold

Instructions: Plant outdoors in a trench 15 cm (6″) deep and 15 cm (6″) across. Gradually fill trench as plants grow, surrounding the stems with soil.

Suggestions: Leeks are very heavy feeders, so fertilize well with rotted manure.
