Cylindra Formanova Beets produce long, dark red roots. The unique roots look similar to carrots, and provide more uniform slices than round beet varieties. The roots are great when used fresh, diced, canned, pickled, or frozen while the tops are great for salads.

Preparation Ideas: Cylindra beets grow more uniform than other types of beets. To prevent beet bleeding, it is best to remove the skin after cooking.

Days to Germination: 10 to 12 days

Days to Maturity: 45 to 65 days

Planting Depth: 1.3 cm (1/2″)

Instructions: Sow in rows as early as the ground can be worked. After planting, press down covering with soil firmly. It performs best in full sun and well drained soil.

Suggestions: Plant near bush beans, cabbage, lettuce, or kohlrabi but away from pole beans.
