Description

We’ve trialed many, many Salvias over the years with mixed results, but there’s no doubt that the newest cultivars ‘Sensation Deep Rose Improved’ and ‘Sensation Sky Blue’ from the Florensis Breeding Project are some of the best we’ve seen.

‘Sensation Sky Blue’ is a dwarf selection that is more compact and densely branched than MARCUS™ and with flowers that sit just at the top of the foliage.  It grows vigorously to form a perfectly rounded, dense mound of rugose, green foliage.

From early through midsummer, mauve purple stems and calyces support the flower spikes that are not exactly sky blue as the name suggests, but more of a medium blue violet color.  It is discernibly bluer than typical Salvias including MARCUS™.  This selection also has secondary branching which extends its flowering time through midsummer.
