This person is responsible for the installation or ongoing maintenance of outdoor spaces, including lawns, gardens, parks, and commercial grounds.
Core Responsibilities
- Lawn & Garden Care: Tasks include mowing, edging, weeding, aerating, and fertilizing lawns.
- Planting & Cultivation: Installing and maintaining flowers, shrubs, trees, and sod.
- Horticultural Maintenance: Pruning, trimming hedges, and monitoring plant health for disease or pests.
- Hardscaping: Assisting with the installation of paths, patios, decks, fences, and retaining walls.
- Seasonal Services: performing spring and fall cleanups and winter services such as snow plowing and salting.
- Equipment Operation: Safely using power tools such as mowers, chainsaws, leaf blowers or dingo’s.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, stand for long periods, and lift heavy loads (often 50+ lbs).
- Experience: Many employers look for 1–2 years of experience but willing to train.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, and a valid driver’s license are frequently required.
Working Environment
- Outdoor Conditions: Work is primarily performed outdoors.
- Hours: Typical shifts are Monday through Friday full-time throughout the summer and fall if available.
