This opportunity is perfect for someone looking to gain experience in the landscape construction and/or estimating industry. There will also be a component of implementation and project management.

The candidate should be able to work well with others and be able to be a dynamic team player who can also be counted on to work alone doing estimates.

The candidate will have the chance to work with some of the larger construction and landscape firms in Winnipeg thereby gaining experience at a high level while developing relationships with the senior leadership teams at those organizations.

This candidate will also work with individual home owners to assess their needs and present qualified quotes to them. Ron Paul Garden Centre (RPGC) will help train this skillset at the home owner level and at the large-scale construction level.

Estimating should primarily entail:

• Site Assessment & Takeoffs: Conducting site visits to verify measurements, access points, and existing conditions. Performing “takeoffs” from blueprints to calculate quantities of plants, hardscape materials (stone, pavers), and soil.
• Cost Analysis: Calculating total costs for labor, specialized equipment (e.g., excavators), and materials.
• Bid Preparation: Creating detailed proposals and submitting bids for residential, commercial, or municipal contracts.
• Risk Evaluation: Identifying potential logistical or environmental challenges that could impact the budget.

This is a summer position which could lead to a full-time post if the candidate is done school and wants to move into the next chapter of their life.
